Ludhiana, March 21 The annual exams notwithsanding, some city youngsters enjoyed the festival of colours throughout the day today. Carrying the Holi paraphernalia in their hands they drove on the city roads without a care in the world. To add to the fun, many of them opted to remove the silencers of their motorbikes to create more noise for attracting everyone's attraction. They shouted with glee whenever they came across any other group of youngsters and painted each other with colours both dry and wet. Running from one street to another these Holi revellers were roaming about in happy groups.

Maninder Singh and his friends said,"We are feeling so relaxed today. Due to the ongoing examinations it was a very monotonous schedule. The day made our minds fresh again."

While carrying rotten tomatoes in their hands, a group of boys near Sidhwan canal said, "We are waiting for our other friends and will welcome them with these tomotoes. These are so red to paint their faces."

Not only the youth but school students also enjoyed the day. Jannatpreet Kaur, a Class IV student along with her friends, said, "We burst three hundred balloons and coloured each other with dry as well as wet colours."

At many places it was observed that police personnel were thrashing the youngsters who were indulging in hooliganism. In some cases they left them after giving warnings while at others they were also seen keeping a strict vigil on them while playing Holi.

Whistling at a high pitch these enthusiasts were also carrying water balloons with them. However, many people felt that they were just adding to the noise pollution. Interestingly, at some places people preffered to roam about in cars without bonnets and window panes so that maximum number of Holi revellers could be accommodated.

The enthusiasm was so high that some youngsters even coloured a few stray dogs. Meanwhile, shopkeepers displayed different types of colours in front of their shops along with pichkaris and Holi-related greeting cards.
