"I don't see there is anything wrong with having a players association. People say if players have an association it will create problems with the board and player power will gather strength. But I don't think it is like that at all," said Younis.

The skipper said he has had talks with Federation of International Cricketers' Association boss Tim May in this matter and said Pakistan cricketers were keen to form their own body soon.

"But I don't think this would be possible without inputs from some of our former greats like Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Rameez Raja who have experience and education. We would definitely seek their advice when we decide to move ahead with forming the players' association," Younis said.

Several attempts had been made in the past to form a player’s body but failed to take off following disagreement over the terms and objectives of the body.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board could revise the central contracts after some senior players raised objections to certain clauses.

Last month the PCB had offered central contracts to 28 players but only eight have signed them so far. Younis confirmed they had talks with the board which had agreed to do some rethinking on the contracts.

"We had some issues and we conveyed it to them. I am grateful to them that they had listened to us. I think all of us should sign the contracts in the next few days," Younis added.

The PCB came under criticism for ignoring some deserving players from the list of contracted players. Sources close to the Pakistan team said following the fresh round of discussions, the board had conceded that it might issue a revised list of players.
