Youth festival kicks off

Ludhiana, February 22 Punjab Technical Institutes of Sports (PTIS) inaugurated its 11th Inter-polytechnic Youth Festival for Girls at the auditorium hall of Government Polytechnic College for Girls, Rishi Nagar, today.

The chief guest on the occasion, Bikramjit Singh Khalsa, chief parliamentary secretary, Technical Education and Industrial Training began the festivities by lighting the candle.

In his address, he apprised the audience about the problems being faced by the technical education department. He emphasised that imparting technical education to the masses was the need of the hour and it was important for the economic development of the state.

He stressed that the primary duty of the government was to promote and uplift technical education. He added that in the forthcoming budget, the government would provide sufficient funds for the expansion of technical education. .

H K Toor, principal of the college, highlighted the achievements of the college. She welcomed and thanked all the participants, team incharge and principals of other colleges present on the occasion.

Reports said that students of Government Polytechnic College, Patiala, resented the judgement in the solo dance category. However, the teachers said that the judgement was fair. The first prize in the category was shared by the host college and Lovely Institute.

Among those present on the occasion included Balkar SIngh Sandhu, PTIS president and principal of Government Polytechnic College, Bathinda.
