Islamabad, March 3: Pakistanis will reject any government that overlooks the Kashmir dispute and seeks "to please the US and India", the former chief of the Lashker-e-Toiba said on Monday.

Reacting to PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari's comments that relations between India and Pakistan should not be held hostage by the Kashmir dispute, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed claimed the statement was "tantamount to rubbing salt in the wounds of the Kashmiri people".

Saeed, who now heads the Islamic charity Jamaat-ud-Dawah which has been listed by the US as a terrorist group, said "history is witness that those rulers who attempted to neglect the sacrifices of oppressed Kashmiris have not lasted long in power".

"The Pakistani nation will never allow anyone to trade the blood of Kashmiris," he said, urging political parties to "rectify" their stance and "strive to please Allah instead of seeking to please the US and India".

Saeed said Zardari, whose Pakistan People's Party is set to form government, should have asked the UN to investigate alleged atrocities on Kashmiris instead of talking about promoting trade with India.

The people have voted against the US and its allies in the February 18 polls and "if the new government deviates from Pakistan's principled stance on the Kashmir issue, people will totally reject them too", he claimed.

The "movement is continuing and will continue in the future," Saeed said. "Any conspiracies against it will

never succeed."

Zardari's remarks hailed

Leaders of the ruling Congress-PDP coalition in Jammu and Kashmir have hailed Pakistan People's Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari's remarks on Kashmir terming these as positive and realistic.

"We welcome (Zardari's) positive and realistic remarks.

I hope the emerging democratic set up in Pakistan will focus on strengthening ties with India," senior vice-president of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress Abdul Gani Vakil said.

A stable Pakistan was in the interest of the entire sub-continent, he told party workers here yesterday.

Vakil, a Social Welfare Minister in the Ghulam Nabi Azad government, said people were concerned more with economic issues and wanted peace for progress and prosperity.

In a recent TV interview, Zardari had said India and Pakistan should not be held hostage to the Kashmir issue and both could wait for future generations to resolve it in a mature manner.

Welcoming Zardari's remarks, Deputy Chief Minister and senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Beigh said there was need to open up road links between India and Pakistan. This would facilitate thousands of tourists from South Asia to visit Kashmir, he told a public meeting at Delina in Baramulla district on Sunday.

Political instability in Pakistan was a big hurdle in way of resolving the Kashmir issue, Beigh said.

"Had there been stability in Pakistan, the Kashmir issue would have been resolved by now," he said. Vakil said the dialogue process would get a fillip after the formation of a new government in Pakistan.

Kashmir in Pak by VVH on 04 Mar 2008

I am not expert on Kashir issue which is mad every complicated due to vested interests of many parties. However, I do not undertand one thing... it seems Kashmir freedom movement is only in Indian part of Kashmir and why it is not happneing in Pakistani Part of Kashmir?? I would like to see what happens when those terroists cum freedom fighter target Pakis to demand freedom of pak side of Kashmir?? I think then they will realize what atrocities means and how pak army treat them. I am stern believer that neither India nor Pak can liberate Kashmir fully. It is impossible. However Pak is using Kashmiri sentimets to provoke terrorism against India and it seems Kashmiries do not understand it.

sare jaaahn se achchha????? by Iqbal on 04 Mar 2008

Kashmir has bankrupted Pakistan, all the afraatafree we see there every day has some links with Kashmir and thanks to India's firm stand on its claim, Kashmir has proven A VISH KANYA for Pakistan, Kashmir will give Pakistan a FINAL poisonous kiss of death SOON.

TERROR VS THE FREE WORLD. by A.Mahadevan on 04 Mar 2008

Hafiz Muhammad Saeed of the Jamaat-ud-Dawah, an Islamic charity, is rubbing salt on the wounds of the free world. Hafiz Muhammad Saeed have consciously forgotten or ignored the history of the Hindus under the beastly Muslim regimes who also grisly murdered in cold blood their own brothers and imprisoned their own fathers. Hafiz Mohammad Saeed should know very well that God is with the oppressed peoples of the world and the wrath of God is whirling ferociously seeking to destroy those who intend to unleash terror on the free nations and free peoples of the world. In Pakistan occupied Kashmir and Northern areas of Kashmir there are only Pakistani Punjabi people and international terrorists and no Kashmiri people. Saeed should tell the world as to what happened to the Kashmiri people in the Pakistani occupied region of Kashmir.

Zardari's J by meher on 04 Mar 2008

We can hope that with the forming of a democratic Govt. in Pakistan, there will be some change in the mind set of its rulers. So far their policies have all been Kashmir centric, leading them to nowhere.Reltions between India and Pakistan can only improve if they look beyond Kashmir.India and Paistan have got a lot in common and with mutual cooperation in various filelds, both countries can achieve economic progress for the benefit of its people.

Zardar,s J by Muhammed on 03 Mar 2008

Does Mr Hafiz Muhammed Saeed and the Jamaat ud Daawa have a hotline to Allah. Is he the spokesperson for Allah? How does he know that it is Allahs wish that the Kashmir issue should be solved in a way that satisfies his ego and sadomasochism. HAS HE FORGOTTEN THAT ALLAH SENT THE WORST EARTHQUAKE TO HIT THE SUBCONTINENT TO HIT AZAD KASHMIR AND NOT INDIAN KASHMIR? I say to him- Repent of your past sins and perform Umraa again and support peace. You are not the only Kashmiri or Muslim who will go to Jennat, the view point of others should be considered. It is idiots like him who swallowed all the money that we sent for earthquake victims. Beware of Allah's wrath on your head for misleading people.

ZARDAR,S.J. by munn on 03 Mar 2008

Regardless of good intention/statements, by the power that may be; the problem of Kashmir is similar to that of Palastine. There are too many impeding varibles, parties, groups, religious orgsanizations, millitants, terrorists etc.to bring these intentions to fruiation, period. Then again we can always get lucky!munn

I agree with your view..people like Saeed are running their business in the name of this nonsense "Struggle" ruining lives of innocent people...

Kashmir problem by Krishan K Arora on 03 Mar 2008

Kashmir is only held as a hostage by the terrorists and they are the ones who never want to have that problem solved for ever. They must be totally isolated in Pakistan and J
