Vadodara, February 1 The Bharuch Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested a Circle Officer (CO) for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a construction contractor who wanted permission to cut down trees in Wohra village.

Siva Tudvi was caught red-handed while accepting the money from Babakhan Rathod in the Tilakwada executive magistrate's office in Narmada district, where he is posted.

“Rathod wanted to cut some trees in Wohra, which requires permission. On approaching Tudvi, he was asked for a sum of Rs 10,000 after which Rathod filed a complaint with the ACB,” said Tilakwada's Executive Magistrate A J Chanpura. The accused officer was produced in the local court of the adjoining Bharuch district later in the day.

This is the second time in six months that the anti-corruption bureau has made an arrest after another CO from the same department was nabbed for accepting bribe.
