To be intrigued by the uncertain lure of tomorrow is one of the universal traits of all human beings. But there are a rare few, who hold, if not the key then a rough map to the enigmatic future.

Dr Rajeev K Sharma, the US-based numerologist is one of them. "Numerology is a very precise science because it works on the accuracy of calculating numbers with regard to their planetary assignment. The tallying numbers, when translated into planets, can predict almost anything about a person, be it his character, health problems, business, success in relationships or the opportune period to undertake an activity,” he explains. The date, place and time of birth and a person's name are the main ways to calculate predictions.

Of course, numerology is not every body's business. There's some instinct inherent to the person that makes him sensitive to his surrounding vibrations. "When I see someone, I can pick things up which are not covered by numerology at all,” he says. "That can only be explained by a sixth sense. You can never become good at this unless you have that extra sensory perception."

Has he ever used his gifts to decipher what fate has apportioned for him? "Frankly speaking, I really don't know why. Maybe I never had time for myself,” he rationalizes, the candor as spontaneous as his natural gift.

With an international clientele from the US, UK, Africa and Australia, he says, "I am very concerned about my client because he entrusts me with his future. I advise them to the best of my capabilities but ultimately it is their choice whether to follow it or not. I don't see it as a business like some people do. For me, it is more about helping people with the gift god has given me."

After shows on numerous TV channels like Zee, Sky, BBC Five Live, Music Masala (Houston) & Salaam Namaste (Dallas), and contributing articles for Movie Mag International for the last 7 years predicting the future of Bollywood stars, Dr. Sharma reveals, "I am more at home with common people than high profile celebrities. They are more real and interaction with them is without barriers of pretence and affectation. If I can't satisfy the common man with my predictions, then what good is my fame or any other prediction about a celebrity to him?"

Dr Sharma's famous predictions include Sanjay Dutt's release, Aishwarya Rai's wedding and Tony Blair's win.

After almost 23 years with this abstract science, he illuminates what really is important when it comes to numerology. "Discipline is the key to everything. In all my life, I have followed a disciplined life. I do not drink, smoke or eat non-vegetarian food. I meditate regularly and firmly believe in a spiritual presence that is guiding and controlling everything. And in the end, to go far in life, you have to be a good human being. You have to think for people."
