The 8 by 12 space at the backside of Dulya Maruti Mandir in Ganesh Peth every evening faces a space crunch. With a horde of people flocking in to the small rectangular area it’s not only the place that faces a space crunch but also the road leading to it gets jam packed with people. The everyday evening traffic at the Dulya Maruti Chowk owes it’s disruption to the 8 by 12 space. Had it not been for the neatly stacked shelves of fruits, the mixer grinders and the chiller that the 8 by 12 space houses, the traffic would have moved as smoothly as ever.

It ‘s not only the Ganesh Peth residents that are in the long list of it's patrons. The juice bar since long is catering to the taste buds of people from all the areas of Pune . The news of the ' thick juices' as people popularly call it reached far and wide and the result is that today, the shop has clients from all over the city.

It was the year 1964 when in the small space Gajanan Janardan Mohre started his Neera Vikri Kendra. The Kendra, which eventually metamorphosed into a juice bar, today, is known for it's creamy and thick juices.

When queried about the unique thick taste Mohre elaborates, " It is because we use fresh cream in all the juices. It is the blend of the two that gives it a unique taste. Many people say it’s the pulp but you can’t find pulp there it’s pure juice and cream." Reluctant to reveal any more of his trade secrets Mohre grins and fields off the other questions coming his way. "Itna hi bol sakta hoon bass nahi to hamaria hunar log chori kar lenge."

One of the many reasons the presence of a number of juice bars just in close vicinity of Hari Om at Ganesh Peth have not been able to dwarf it's presence is their expertise in the art of grinding . Also, the bar sells juices of fruits of all the seasons. In fact Gajanan Janardan Mohre's urge to turn his small Neera Vikri Kendre into a juice bar in the year 1964 was driven by the fact of providing its patrons with the pleasure of fruits of all seasons. "We wanted to have a juice bar that irrespective of the seasons will have juices of all fruits available in any of the season. For example Litchi juice is available in all the season.," shares his elder son Ramchandra Mohre

Mohre believes the shop, being at the backside of Dulya Maruti Mandir has been blessed by the Lord himself. “The sucees of the shop and the unique taste of the juices is God’s grace,” says a modest Mohre completely shrugging off the credit of the juice lovers flocking to his juice bar to quench their thirst because of his expertise.

One from the long list of patrons of the juice bar, Subhash Shelke who is a regular customer says, "The juices here are so thick that you have to eat it instead of drinking. And it's not pulp. It' s just the juice. Apart from the taste you also feel healthy." Shelke and his friends who are the residents of Karve road frequent the Ganesh Peth area for the unique taste. " We have had juices at so many Juice bars but this one is different," says he.

A bequest to be nurtured by Mohre's coming generations, the juice bar is very much a family affair for the Mohres. Where the two sons work tirelessly to carry forward his legacy, their generation next, Mohre's grandsons too pull up their sleeves to carry it further.
