New Delhi Nearly eight months after it was launched by the government, the much-applauded Mission Convergence scheme was severely criticised by the BJP MLAs during the presentation of the progress report on Friday.

The BJP alleged the project was a waste of public funds as the functions of the scheme were a replication of the responsibilities carried out by the sub-district magistrate’s office and the elected members of the government.

“The scheme is meant to be a single-window system to ensure all welfare schemes reach the right people. They didn’t have to create a separate department and hire people when all they had to do is ensure implementation of schemes,” BJP MLA Jagdish Mukhi said.
