Kanpur, December 31 The body of three-year-old Ankit, who was kidnapped on Saturday, was found in a garbage heap on the outskirts of Mubarakpur village under Akbarpur police station. On the basis of a complaint lodged by Ankit’s father Balbir Yadav, Akbarpur police have arrested three persons.

Neighbours said, Ankit was playing outside his house in Mubarakpur village when he went missing. When he did not return till late night, his family launched a search for him. Failing to find his son, Yadav lodged a missing report at Akbarpur police station. On Sunday evening, villagers found Ankit’s body in a sack. His throat had been slit. Angry villagers prevented the local police from taking the body for post-mortem.

Talking to The Indian Express, Yadav alleged that villagers Charan Singh, Shiv Karan, Dinesh Kumar and Ajmer Singh killed his son owing to past rivalry with his elder brother Ram Kishan. He added that the police was allowed to send the body for post-mortem only after they assured strict action against the guilty.

Kotwali incharge J N Pandey said Charan Singh, Shiv Karan and Dinesh Kumar had been arrested and were being interrogated.
