Ludhiana Vikas Gupta, son of a local industrialist who had gone missing on Monday, was found from Una in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday evening. While Gupta said he had been abducted by a few unidentified people, the Ludhiana police have doubts over his claims and are cross-checking them.

Gupta was brought to the city by his family on Wednesday evening. The police got his medical examination conducted on Thursday and also took his blood and urine samples for clinical tests.

Sources said Vikas told the police that two people had pushed him in a car on Monday evening and was given a sedative. As he fell unconscious, said Gupta, he was taken to Una. He reportedly gained consciousness only on Wednesday after which he called up his family to take him back.

Refusing to divulge further details, Model Town SHO Beant Kumar Juneja said: “His story leaves a lot of questions. We are cross-examining him, besides conducting his medical tests.”

Vikas Gupta is a resident of Ashok Nagar. His father, Achhru Ram Gupta, runs a business of cycle parts manufacturing. Gupta had gone to pick up his nephew from his tuition classes in Dugri around 7.30 pm on Monday. The family came to know of his disappearance when someone from the tuition centre called them to take the child home. The family was told that Vikas never reached there.
