Bathinda, March 2 Police today registered a case of abetment to suicide against Neena Devi, wife of a Maur Mandi resident, Chaman Lal, and her paramour Karamchand, alias Bittu.

Chaman Lal had yesterday reportedly committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance. The case was registered on the complaint of deceased's brother Madan Lal, who said that Chaman Lal was upset over "his wife Neena's illicit relations with Bittu". According to the police, Madan Lal claimed that Chaman Lal told him about the cause of his worry a couple of days back. "Madan Lal said in the complaint that his brother had said that he would commit suicide if his wife did not end her relationship with Bittu," said a policeman posted at Maur Mandi.

As per the police, the complainant said yesterday evening when he went to the house of his brother, he saw him struggling for life.

Police said raids were on to nab the accused. Neena Devi has two daughters and a 10-year-old son. Police claimed that one of the daughters was married.
