Pune Going about his business in a calm and collected manner, Abhishek Jha turned the table upside down at the LG Western India Amateur that is being played at the par-71 Poona Club Golf Course with a round that put him miles ahead of the rest of the field. Playing in the penultimate group, Abhishek stormed his way through the back-nine to become the only player to shoot below 70 and with a round of four-under 67, he goes into the final round with an eight stroke lead.

City-based Moin Malak, who won the LG-Goodricke Eastern India Amateur Championship, pushed himself to second place on the leaderboard with a round of three over 74.

Jasjeet Singh, who had a firm control on the tournament, saw the lead slip away.

Playing with his usual confident swagger, Abhishek Jha made the turn level for the day. He hit a long drive on the par-4 10th and faced with a fifty-foot putt, he stood over the ball and calmly saw the ball into the hole. He almost finished his round with another eagle as his putt came agonizingly close to finding the bottom of the cup but it was not to be; but nonetheless, a tap-in birdie on the last hole was good enough to give him a round of four-under 67, the best round of the tournament by a country mile.

Jha said "I did not go out there with any plan as such; I felt I wasn't playing as badly as my scores seemed to suggest and today everything fell in place.”
