Pune lad Moin Malak, who won the LG-Goodricke Eastern India Amateur Championship, pushed himself to second place on the leaderboard with a round of three over 74. Jasjeet Singh, who had a firm control on the tournament, saw his lead slip away, painfully quickly, and by the time he had made the turn, there was already a new name on top of the leaderboard.

A dejected Jasjeet could not hide his disappointment as he submitted his card of ten over 81. Despite being tied for second place, he has a huge mountain to overcome if he hopes to win his first tournament this season on the LG Amateur Tour. Pawan Kumar and Arshdeep Tiwana rounded off the top five, with a three day total of fourteen-over 227. HS Kang and Karan Taunk who played in the leadergroup along with Jasjeet, returned high numbers to slip way down the leaderboard.

 The star of the day was undoubtedly Abhishek Jha who scorched the greens at the Poona Club Golf Course, with a round most people thought was not possible on such a challenging course. Playing with his usual confident swagger, Abhishek Jha made the turn level for the day. But even he had no idea of what was to come as he shifted gears and started taking some risks. He hit a long drive on the par-4 10th and faced with a 50-foot putt, he stood over the ball and calmly saw the ball into the hole.

He almost finished his round with another eagle as his putt came agonisingly close to finding the bottom of the cup but it was not to be; but nonetheless, a tap-in birdie on the last hole was good enough to give him a round of four-under 67, the best round of the tournament by a country mile.
