The Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Ahmedabad police arrested Madan Singh, Kallu Singh, Bhil Singh, General Singh and Jaireen Singh from their residences.
The police said that the arrests were made after their names were disclosed by seven other gang members, who are presently in police custody. “These seven were arrested in connection with a robbery of Rs 1.35 lakh from a mobile phone showroom in Niranaynagar earlier this month,” SOG Sub Inspector J M Bharwad said.
The five arrested today have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the Nirnaynagar theft case and also some other similar thefts in the city.
“Some more names may open up during interrogation of these five,” Bharwad added.
