Accident claims life of 30-yr-old

Chandigarh A 30-year-old man lost his life after a motorcyclist jumped a red light and rammed his two-wheeler into an autorickshaw.

The accident occurred at the lights points on the road dividing Sectors 34 and 35 at 7 am on Tuesday.

The deceased, Ram Kumar, was a resident of Colony Number 5.

According to the police, Ram Kumar and his friend Ran Sanehi were going towards the bus stand in an autorickshaw from Colony Number 5.

The autorickshaw driver was crossing the road dividing Sectors 34 and 35, when Sunil Kumar, who was coming from Sector 22 in his motorcycle and going to Sector 35, did not stop at the red signal and collided with the autorickshaw.

All four people — Ram Kumar, Ram Sanehi, the autorickshaw driver and Sunil — fell on the road and sustained injuries.

They were rushed to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16 where Ram Kumar succumbed to his injuries.

The police have registered a case of rash driving and causing death due to negligence against Sunil and have started investigations into the matter.
