Puniya Nand Sharma, who worked in a call centre in Gurgaon, was travelling in his Santro car and reportedly lost his way due to the dense fog near Harphool Singh Akhra in Majnu Ka Tila area of North Delhi. According to the police, Sharma was speeding as well as driving on the wrong side of the road when he rammed his car into a crane, used by the Traffic police to tow illegal vehicles, coming from the opposite direction around 12.30 a.m. “Sharma was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre but succumbed to his injuries,” said a police officer.

Police officers said preliminary investigations show that the accident was caused by excessive fog and the victim driving on the wrong side of the road.

In another accident, a rickshaw-puller was crushed to death by a Blueline bus in Vikaspuri area of West Delhi on Sunday evening.

Police said the victim was hit by a Blueline bus plying on route number 761, between Mangolpuri to Azadpur. The victim was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

According to the police, the Blueline bus lost control and hit the victim, who has not been identified. Police have impounded the bus and arrested the errant driver.
