He was briefing the press on Wednesday in the company of Mahagujarat Janata Party leaders — who are BJP rebels.

The one-time BJP think tank, who was in town to deliver a public lecture on ‘Contemporary Politics on the Anvil of Values’ to mark Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s death anniversary, said that despite all publicity blaze favouring him as the next Prime Minister, Advani himself “wants to live a peaceful, happy and serene life, like that of Late Madhu Limaye.”

He did not elaborate whether he favoured Narendra Modi as Advani’s replacement.

He said development in future will have to undergo a paradigm shift from being pro-rich and pro-foreign to pro-poor and pro-India. As of now, major political parties have dual standards with some being pro-Muslim, pro-rich and pro-foreign, which will only lead to the country’s destruction, he said.

Govindacharya said value-based power politics will have to be brought back, adding that his Rashtravadi Morcha doesn’t have a concept of supremo.

The Morcha, per se, will not jump into the fray, but will support chosen political parties and work as a facilitator. He said he is in touch with 125 of the 400 registered political parties and will support them in the coming Lok Sabha polls, Mahagujarat Janata Party being one of them.

Coming to local issues, he said that instead of having temples in Gandhinagar demolished, the state government should relocate them. “The administration should be more pro-people and be sensitive to their needs,” he said adding, that issues cannot be left unattended. He further said he did not view the rule of religion limited to the mode of worship, but as morality.
