Chandigarh Actor Shatrughan Sinha was in the city on Monday to campaign for BJP candidate Satya Pal Jain. Attacking the Congress-led UPA government, he said that during these five years, development has not only stalled but regressed.

Addressing a rally in Mauli Jagran, he said Advani was an extraordinary home minister and is the most suitable candidate for the post of the Prime Minister of India.

He added that poverty in India has gone up by 20 per cent but the Congress is trying to suppress the report and hide it from the people. The Congress government has failed to deliver, he said. Referring to a report of the United Nations, Sinha said that the largest number of poor is not in some undeveloped African country but in India.

Sinha said that over one and half crore people have lost jobs in the last one year alone. He added that: “Had the Congress been capable of solving the problem, such a scenario would not have arisen in the first place.”

Before ending his speech, Sinha made some remarks in a variety of languages like Bangla, Bhojpuri, Punjabi and Hindi, to a thunderous applause from the audience .
