Advani, Sudarshan to join save Ganga campaign

Varanasi, January 6 RSS chief K C Sudarshan and former BJP president L K Advani will be in Varanasi on February 17 to support the movement to save the Ganga river.

A Ganga Sanskriti Pravah Yatra will start from Gangasagar on February 1 and culminate on Akshay Tritiya day (May 8) at Gangotri after traversing through 32 locations on the banks of the river.

The yatra is being organised by Ganga Mahasabha as a part of the Ganga Mukti Abhiyan, national secretary of Ganga Mahasabha Acharya Jitendra said on Sunday.

The yatra will reach Varanasi on February 17 after traversing through Kolkata, Munger, Patna, Buxar, Ghazipur.

At Varanasi, RSS chief K C Sudarshan will perform special Ganga Pujan at the Rajendra Prasad Ghat, while BJP leader Advani is likely to address a gathering at Rajghat, he added.

The yatra will later go to Allahabad, Kanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Rishikesh, Devprayag, Tehri, Uttarkashi before culminating at Gangotri on May 8.

Besides, Advani and Sudarshan, sadhus from 32 countries, including four Shankaracharyas, Yoga Guru Ramdev, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Swami Avdheshanand are expected to join the yatra.
