Ahmedabad The state unit of the Indian Association of Lawyers will stage a daylong sit-in outside the Gujarat High Court on Monday.

Their demand: change in the court opening time from 10.30 am to 11 am.

Association vice-president Muktesh V Patel said quite a significant number of litigants and lawyers come from different parts of the state, some even from places as far as Bhuj, Surat and Valsad.

Therefore, they find it difficult to attend cases at 10. 30 am. As a result, matters get adjourned.

This results in a loss of time, money and man-days for the judges, litigants and the lawyers.

It was owing to this that the Gujarat High Court Advocates’ Association had demanded a change in timings, said Patel, adding that the court administration has not accepted this so far.

Patel said Monday’s dharna is being organised to pressurise the court administration to accept their demand for changing the opening time.
