“People are becoming more aware about the significance of IT-based systems in monitoring a location,” said Uppal Chakraborty, CIO, DLF Limited. Chakraborty and other experts from companies like Sun Micro Systems, Microsoft, PWC and ITC were speaking at INFOCOM 2008-09, an IT exhibition.

“Post terror attacks, all our customers want digital video surveillance in public areas of their buildings,” said Chakraborty.

Presently, real estate companies heavily depend on CCTVs for security of their premises. “We have a CCTV footage monitoring room, but very soon an upgraded version of digital video surveillance will be installed that can be programmed according to personal needs,” he said.

Most real estate companies are also heavily dependent on GPS and GIS systems to keep tab on acquired land.
