The house owner Paramjeet Singh, a driver who was suspended two years ago from the Narcotics Control Bureau, and his son Maninder sustained burns in the incident. Doctors at the PGI stated Paramjeet’s condition to be critical.
“It seems that the LPG cylinder in the kitchen was leaking and the gas caught fire when a matchstick was lit. A refrigerator, cooler, bed and a few electronic items were destroyed in the fire,” said a fire official.
Station House officer of the Sector-39 police station, Inspector Janak Rana, said: “We have registered a case against Paramjeet Singh for storing inflammable material without permission. Investigations are on to trace from where he procured such a large quantity of petrol.” The petrol containers have been seized.
