After fatwa, Ludhiana Imam threatens police case against Aroosa Alam

Patiala, January 3 Coming down heavily upon Aroosa Alam, the Pakistani journalist and friend of former Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh, Shahi Imam of Ludhiana's Jama Masjid Mohd Usman Rehmani Ludhianvi has threatened of filing a police case against her.

The Imam today said Aroosa and Amarinder were hurting the sentiments of Muslims in Punjab. He also charged Aroosa with using derogatory language against the Shahi Imam of Punjab Maulana Habib-ur-Rehman by calling him an "illiterate".

"Aroosa bodes ill for Punjab and should immediately leave the state, or face a court case for playing with the sentiments of Muslims," he said.Talking to the media, the Imam said Aroosa had earlier defied the fatwa against her and had instead instigated Muslims by using derogatory language against the Imams.

Aroosa and Capt Amarinder had reached Moti Mahal in Patiala yesterday.
