Ludhiana After former MP Gurcharan Singh Galib, it is now turn of senior Congress leader and former chairman of Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) Ashok Singh Garcha, to question the candidature of AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari to be fielded from Ludhiana in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Referring to Tewari as an outsider, Garcha said the party would be making a big mistake if they allot him the ticket the second time. He was addressing a media conference at his residence today. He also said that former MP Galib, was best suited for the party ticket.

The former LIT chairman said Tewari could be accommodated in the Rajya Sabha as he was an intellectual. When asked about his reasons for holding the press conference, Garcha said he wanted to air his views about Tewari to the party high command.

While Manish Tewari refused to comment on Garcha’s statement, Akshay Bhanot, general secretary, Punjab Youth Congress, in a statement issued, said Garcha was not entitled to comment against Tewari as he (Garcha) did not hold even the preliminary membership of the party.

Reacting to Bhanot’s statement, Garcha said he was a Congressman as he had a strong faith in the ideology of Jawahar Lal Nehru.
