PCMC sports chief Vishnu Jadhav said after the incident, his department has further tightened the security at the Major Dhyan Chand poligras hockey stadium. "With tightened security, I am sure we will be able to keep the stray dogs away from the stadium." Jadhav said a report submitted to him by his sports official said the strays caused the damaged. "It seems like a very small portion was damaged during a match and the tear got further widened after the strays fiddled around," he said. Jadhav said during evening hours or in the night, strays had been common at the stadium. "This will not happen in future," he said. National hockey umpire Sreedharan Thamba however said it is difficult to believe that stray dogs could cause the damage. "I think it is a fall-out of the fueds between different hockey associations," he alleged. However, PCMC officials discounted that possibility.
