Kolkata All set to target the CPM-led state government in the upcoming state Assembly session beginning Friday, the Congress has sought floor coordination in the House with Trinamool Congress.

“We welcome floor coordination with the Trinamool. If necessary, we will talk to Trinamool leaders on the issue,” said Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Manas Bhuniya. Congress leaders believe a combined strength with Trinamool MLA’s on the floor of the House will not only give them strength, but will also help corner the state government. The CLP is likely to bank on recent issues, particularly the Jnaneswari Express derailment, deteriorating law and order situation and Maoist menace.

“We will take on the state government according to the rules of parliamentary democracy. We will raise important issues like continuing political violence in the state, poor condition of industry, among others,” said Bhuniya. On reports of a section of Congress councillors joining hands with Left councillors to form the board in Suri municipality of Birbhum district, Bhuniya said: “Our working president Pradip Bhattacharjee has already sought a report from Birbhum district Congress president Sushovon Banerjee,” he said.
