Agriculture Dept to purchase farm literature from PAU

Ludhiana, February 6 The farm literature brought about by PAU is in great demand in the farming community of Punjab and other states too.

Punjab Department of Agriculture has made a special plan to popularize farm literature of the university among the subject matter specialists and farmers of the state, under the National Food Security Mission. According to the Director of Agriculture, Punjab, the ‘Package of Practices for Rabi crops’ will be purchased through the Chief Agricultural Officers of different districts including Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Bathinda, Ferozepur and Sangrur, for distribution among seed producer farmers.

PAU has received a purchase order for 37,000 copies of this booklet. According to Dr Gurdial Singh, Joint Director Agriculture, Punjab, the booklet will be given to farmers who are involved in seed production of different crops. He added that the scheme will be extended to other districts of the state.

Also, popular farm magazine Changi Kheti, brought out by PAU, will be made available in each village of Punjab. According to Additional Director of Communication Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman, arrangements are being made to supply the PAU publications as per requisition of the Department of Agriculture, Punjab, through Chief Agricultural Officers.
