Ahead of summer vacation, rlys announces 1904 special trains

Mumbai To accomadate the huge rush during summer vacation, the Central Railway (CR) and the Western Railway (WR) have announced 1,904 trains for this vacation season.

CR on Tuesday announced 1,512 summer special services to cater to the increased flow of passengers during the summer vacation period. Fifteen lakh passengers are expected to use these services.

“This year, we have introduced 1,512 services as compared to 818 services in 2008 which is some 85 percent more compared to last year,” said Shriniwas Mudgerikar, chief spokesperson, CR. “We have also given priority to state and new destinations like Latur, Pandharpur and Solapur have been added.”

The daily trains announced will run between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CSTM)-Karwar, Latur-Pandharpur, Dadar-Varanasi, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT)- Gorakhpur, Pune-Ahemdabad. CR has also started a train on the Pune-Solapur route. The train will run four days a week.

It has also announced tri-weekly services between CSTM-Nagpur, Pune-Osmanabad, Dadar-Hyderabad and bi-weekly unreserved trains from LTT to Manduadih and LTT to Gorakhpur.

Weekly trains between CSTM-Madgaon, CSTM-Patna, CSTM-Gorkahpur, CSTM-Varanasi, CSTM Guwahati, CSTM-Jabalpur, CSTM-Agra cantonment, LTT-Muzaffarpur, Dadar-Ernakulam, Dadar-Kochuveli, LTT-Darbhanga, LTT-Lucknow, LTT-Madurai, Pune-Hazrat Nizamuddin, Pune-Agra Cantonment and Pune-Gorakhpur have also been announced.

“Even the WR is starting special summer trains,” said WR chief spokesperson Shyam Sundar Gupta. “We are starting 392 services as compared to 168 services in 2008. This is 133 percent more compared to last year.” The WR will run trains between Ahemdabad-Delhi, Bandra-Gorakhpur, Bhavnagar-Kochuveli, Ahemdabad-Madgaon this year.
