Airtel announces mobile phone back-up service

Ludhiana, March 7 Bharti Airtel today announced the launch of Airtel Mobile Phone Back-up service for its pre-paid and post-paid customers in Punjab. The new service will allow them to create a back up for their phone data and will be available for both GPRS and non-GPRS phones. Airtel customers, subscribing to this service, will no longer have to worry about losing their contacts and phone numbers if they lose or change their mobile phone.

According to a press release,”The Airtel Mobile Phone Backup Service safeguards the data of a customers’ mobile phone including Contacts, Calendar, SMS, Photos, Videos and Music, depending on the phone model of the customer. It copies the data in a secure manner to Airtel’s Mobile Phone Backup system and enables the customer to restore the saved data on his new or existing phone, whenever the need arises. Easy-to-use, all functionalities are accessible either from phone application or self-care web inter-face. The activation of the service can be done via SMS or mobile WAP Portal.”

A customer can be registered for the Airtel Phone Backup either by sending keyword Backup as SMS to 57057 or by accessing the WAP portal http://10.5.0.11/airtelwap directly from the mobile browser.
