Aishwarya prevails over her namesake

Mumbai Aishwarya Nambiar prevailed in a marathon five-game encounter over Aishwarya Bhattacharya to enter the semi-finals of the Girls u-15, Rs 90,000 prize money The Club Squash Championships, at the squash courts of the Club, Andheri, on Thursday.

In a match that saw fortunes fluctuating with every game, the winner prevailed over her namesake 11-3, 8-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-4. Second seed Shria Khatri blanked opponent Daksha Pathak 11-0, 11-0, 11-0 to make the last four grade.

In the boys under-15 second round, there was minor upset when Akhilesh Yadav beat fifth seed Aditya Khatri 11-8, 11-9.

GVK-JVPG Squash Open
A Purse of Rs 90,000 is at stake in the GVK-JVPG Squash Open 2009, the 92nd tournament to be organised by the Indian Squash Professionals (ISP) at the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana from March 10 to 14, 2009. Matches will be played in the men’s open, over-35, over-45, doubles open, doubles handicap and junior doubles handicap (u-15) categories with prize money on offer up to the fourth placed finisher.

Entry forms are available on the website www.ispsquash.com http://www.ispsquash.com> and can be sent to the ISP office on fax no 29204910. Entries will close on March 8.
