Ajay bowls Paramount Club to victory

Lucknow A devastating six-wicket haul by off-spinner Ajay Singh was the highlight of the match as Paramount Cricket Club beat Avadh Sky Sports Club by 91 runs in their second round match of the 1st Dr Anil Mishra Memorial Junior Cricket Tournament at Sports College grounds here on Thursday. Ajay also excelled with the bat and scored 44 runs for his team.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Paramount Club scored 186 runs losing seven wickets in the stipulated 35 overs. Ajay Singh (44), Zia Khursheed (28 not out) and Waris Zafar (22) were the main run-getters. Nilendra P Singh and Qamar Iqbal Rizvi took two wickets while Yogendra Singh and Pradeep Jaiswal claimed one wicket each.

In reply, Avadh Sports Academy was bowled out at a total of 95 runs in 25.4 overs, thanks to a six wicket haul by Ajay. Ajay claimed the six wickets giving away just 4 runs in his 2.4 over spell. Puneet Kapoor took two wickets while Amar Deep Singh and Zia Khursheed took one wicket each.

KETAN Mishra and Akhilesh Singh bowled with good vision and took four wickets each as their team--- Lucknow Public College (LPC) defeated St Dominic Savio College by 50 runs in their knock-out stage match of the 11th Avinash Chandra Chaturvedi Memorial Inter College Cricket Tournament at Chowk Stadium here on Thursday.

Asked to bat first, LPC scored 135 runs losing nine wickets in 29.3 overs in the 35 overs-a-side match. On behalf of St Dominic Savio College, Subroto Ghosh claimed four wickets while Abhinav and Rachit Kapil claimed two wickets each. Abid and Imran took apiece each. In reply, St Dominic Savio College was bowled out at a total of 85 runs in 21.4 overs, thanks to commendable bowling performances by Ketan Mishra and Akhilesh Singh. While Ketan claimed four wickets giving away 21 runs in his seven over spell, Akhilesh clinched four wickets conceding 21 runs in 4.4 overs. Abhinav Tripathi also bowled well and took two wickets giving away 15 runs in his six over spell which featured a maiden over as well.
