The animal escaped after injuring two persons on Wednesday.
Divisional Forest Officer N Huda communicated the warning to Banda District Magistrate Ranjan Kumar and district police chief Ashutosh Kumar.
A team of experts, called from the Kanpur zoo to trap the leopard, is camping on the college premises.
According to Huda, the team was called as “we don’t have any veterinary doctors, cages or even tranquilisers in Banda”.
He added that lighting arrangements had already been made to conduct operations in the dark.
Range Officer G P Shukla said: “We have not been able to figure out how this animal managed to reach Banda as there is no forest around. We have alerted the administration and the residents because it is sure that leopard will still be hiding somewhere nearby.”
Banda SP Ashutosh Kumar said patrolling has been intensified and asked the people to inform them immediately if they see the leopard.
At around 10.40 am on Wednesday, Krishna Pal, a college employee, spotted the leopard near the cycle stand.
Principal Anil Kumar Singh immediately ordered that the college premises be vacated.
The principal said the leopard probably entered the college from a spot where the boundry wall is low and took the same route to escape.
However, two locals — Jitendra Pandey and Miraj — were injured when they went too close to the animal.
