High Court grants bail to 3 students
The Calcutta High Court on Thursday granted bail to three students who were in jail custody for assaulting the principal of Sudhir Ranjan Lahiri College, at Majdia in the Nandia district. The public prosecutor of the state did not raise any argument to oppose the bail plea. On January 7, the students of SFI allegedly assaulted the principal of the college and police arrested Pranab Ghosh, Pushpen Sakar and Abhijit Haldar, belonging to the SFI.
HC extends order on police associations
Calcutta High Court extended the interim order on the issue of de-recognition of two police associations in the state. The court asked the state not to evict the offices of the West Bengal Police Association from their premises.
