Vadodara Students of the Faculty of Fine Arts of M S University will contribute to the Mumbai Terror Victims Relief Fund by organising a fun fair for the people of Vadodara.

About 400 students and 63 artists are making the artworks with the theme ‘Alien Invasion’.

The Dean of Fine Arts Faculty, Deepak Kannal, said: “This show is not just for intellectuals, but for the people of Vadodara, especially the school children, who will be able to connect with these artworks.” He said this year the proceeds will go to the Mumbai Terror attack victims. “Along with the proceeds for the Mumbai terror attack victims, we will also use them for awarding scholarships to the physically and mentally challenged students in the faculty,” he said.

Explaining this year's theme, Kannal said that the depiction of the aliens stand as metaphors for the present scenario. “But, we have popular images of aliens from Hollywood to which a child can relate to easily,” he said.

He said that funds to the tune of Rs 4-5 lakh would be raised from these fairs, as the price of the art objects made by the students and the participating artists would not be so expensive compared to the art market. “Art lovers have shown their interest.”
