New Delhi Two young men were arrested from Tilak Nagar in West Delhi by the Special Staff of the police on Thursday for their alleged involvement in a series of robberies. The police officers also recovered several robbed items.

The accused have been identified as Sunil Solanki (21) and Sanjay Jasoria (30).

Both accused come from economically well off backgrounds and became professional bouncers. But as bouncers, they could not keep up with their lavish lifestyles and took to robbery.

“During interrogation Solanki and Jasoria disclosed that they had met and become friends at a local gym. Both joined a disco in Palam area as bouncers. They met one Jeevan, a resident of Palam Colony, who has a criminal background,” a senior police officer said.

The three planned their robberies during the day, when male members of most families were usually away.

On June 6 this year, Sanjay entered a household in Chawwla posing as a BSES employee. After he made sure no male members were present, he signalled Sunil and Jeevan to enter. Threatening the woman of the house with a knife, he asked her to hand over her belongings. When she resisted, they attacked her with a knife and then robbed the house, the police said.

The police said the accused were involved in other robberies in Southwest and West Delhi.
