All India central revenue sports meet concludes

Pune The 41 st edition of the All India Central Revenue Sports Meet for six events - Athletics, badminton, bodybuilding, lawn tennis, table tennis and swimming concluded on Thursday at Shri Shiv Chhatrapti Sports Complex, Balewadi.

The overall team championship in athletics was bagged by the West Zone contingent with 238 points (35 Gold, 17 Silver & 12 Bronze Medals) whereas the runners up were South Zone with 118 points with 11 gold, 16 silver and 15 bronze medals. P Gopi of Central Excise, Tamil Nadu, was declared the best athlete with 15 points (three gold medals) and Ajitha Arokianthan of Income Tax, Kolkata, with 15 points (three gold medals). The best athlete trophy for men was awarded by Shobha L Chary, commissioner, Central Excise, Pune, and president of the Sports Meet. The Best Athlete Trophy for Women was awarded by R J Beley, chief commissioner, Central Excise, Pune Zone and convenor of the Sports Meet. The trophy for overall championship was awarded to the West Zone team.
