All India KD Singh ‘Babu’ Sub-Jr Hockey from Jan 24

Lucknow The 20th All India Balrampur Chini KD Singh `Babu' Memorial Sub-Junior Hockey Tournament will be organised at Dhyanchand astro-turf stadium of Guru Govind Singh Sports College, Kursi Road, Lucknow from January 24 to February 2. The tournament is being held under the auspices of the KD Singh `Babu' Memorial Society. 16 teams from different states will be taking part in the tournament. The selections of the UP team will be held on January 6 and 7 at Dhyanchand astro-turf stadium. Interested players should report at the stadium to `Babu' Society officials Gurutosh Pandey or Mukul Lal Shah at 11.30 am on January 6.

Kyn Tyre triumphs
HORSE Kyn Tyre stood first in 900m race held as a part of the Ist Gymkhana Races (BP Halwasiya Memorial Cup Race) for the racing season 2008-09 held at Lucknow Race Course, Lucknow Cantt. The 800m and the 600m races were won by horses Alexander and Hema, respectively.

Chaturvedi cricket
Jaipuria School defeated St Mary's Convent by 66 runs while LPC beat Modern Academy by seven wickets in their respective semi-final clashes of the Avinash Chaturvedi Memorial Cricket Tournament in progress, here. Brief Scores: (both semi-finals)- (at Chowk Stadium)- Jaipuria School: 168 all out in 40 overs ( Somesh Batra 49, Karan Katoch 25, Aman Parricha 20, Neelesh Pratap Singh 10; Divyanshu 3 for 15, Ankit Rai 3 for 18, Durgesh 3 for 37); St Mary's Convent School: 102 all out in 31.1 overs (Rajat Duggal 22, Ankit Rai 19; Rohit Singh 4 for 28, Rohan Bambi 3 for 17, Somesh Batra 1 for 2, Udit 1 for 17, Prabal Mishra 1 for 26). (at KD Singh `Babu' Stadium)- LPC: 78 all out in 20.1 overs ( Anuj Gautam 21, Nashar 14; Wasiq Jamal 4 for 12, Sunny 1 for 10, Brahaspati 1 for 17, Gaurav 1 for 19, Abhishek 1 for 16); Modern Academy: 82 for three in 14.1 overs ( Abhishek 28, Manish 14; Abhinav 2 for 10, Ketan Mishra 1 for 40).
