Amritsar, February 29 Citing the case of former SGPC media in-charge Daljit Singh Bedi, the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) supremo Simranjit Singh Mann on Friday sought more accountability from the religious body in running of the gurdwara management.

Talking to mediapersons, Mann said the SGPC head Avtar Singh Makkar’s flip-flop on the issue showed that all was not well with the administration of the religious body. He said they would be taking out Sikhi-Sidq march to make people aware of SGPC’s accountability.

Mann, who issued a pocket calendar with late militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale’s photograph, said the way Bedi was first transferred, then exonerated and then again punished shows the inherent troubles with the SGPC administration. He also took exception to the remark of BJP’s Punjab in-charge Balbir Punj, where he sought removal of Bhindranwale’s photograph from Sikh museum. He said the BJP should not interfere in religious affairs of Sikhs.
