Alter lifestyle to curb heart ailment

Ludhiana, September 29 Celebrating the World Heart Day, a free heart check-up camp is being organised from September 28 to October 4 at Ludhiana Mediciti Hospital. On the first day of camp, 218 patients were examined by a noted cardiologist, Dr Brajesh Badhan and Dr D.P. Marik, chief cardiac surgeon of Mediciti hospital. Basic diagnostic tests, blood sugar level, ECG and blood pressure were done free-of-cost at the camp.

Dr Brajesh stated that food habits, dependence on machines and stressful lifestyle had resulted in high incidence of heart diseases. Dr Marik also stressed that the adverse effects of changed lifestyle were causing heart problems in young people also. They stressed that early detection and treatment of hypertension, diabetes helped in preventing heart diseases.

Dietary advise along with same other information on heart problems were given to the patients. Dr B.S. Sekhon, MD of Ludhiana MediCiti, stated that it was necessary to create awareness about the causes and consequences of various diseases by organising seminars and workshops.
