Noida, February 13 Amar Singh, Samajwadi Party president, visited the families of the three murdered transporters, in Chaura Raghunathpur village of Noida’s Sector 22 today. He criticised the Mayawati government for shielding accused state cabinet minister Ved Ram Bhati and his son Ravinder Bhati.

He announced his party would take up the case with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). He also promised that SP spokesman Virendra Bhatia, a lawyer, will fight their case in the High Court. The MP added that Rs 1 lakh would be given to the families of the deceased.

Criticising the police, Singh said: “No security was provided to the families even after High Court orders and repeated requests to the SSP and SP. Firstly the Noida police has to be questioned for contempt of high court orders.”

Elsewhere, the police have arrested Manoj, a resident of Village Imalia in Noida, in connection with the case. A K Vijeta, SP (Rural) said: “We have enough evidence against him.”
