Out of this, Rs 115 crore are to be sourced from the Ahemdabad Municipal Corporation as loan. The budget proposes to have 849 buses on the road out of which, 353 will be AMTS-owned and 496 will be rented. It will earn Rs 127.99 crore on its own buses.
The ailing bus service public utility has suffered a loss of Rs 28.41 crore on its rented CNG bus operations. It has earned Rs 68.01 crore against a spending of Rs 96.42 crore. In the budget year, there will be 514 rented CNG buses, of which, 496 will be on the road, including 84 mini buses, which will be phased out at a later stage.
Municipal Commissioner I P Gautam said the AMTS would flourish once BRTS operations begin.
He said there was no question of AMC taking over AMTS because the latter was a statutory body, but still the former would continue bailing it out of financial troubles.
He said the installation of GPRS on AMTS buses had started paying off and now AMTS was in a better position to control movement of its buses.
