Lucknow, February 4 The Aligarh Muslim University will be joining hands with the US-based University of Wisconsin to promote entrepreneurship behaviour among its students.

“We are all set to sign an agreement with the University of Wisconsin, Madison, under which the latter would develop programmes on honing entrepreneurship skills for our students,’ said the official spokesperson of AMU Dr Rahat Abrar.

“The programmes will be immensely beneficial for our students who want to start their own business, especially when it involves risks. In this competitive environment, entrepreneurial skills are very important for the students,” he added.

The vice-chancellor of AMU, Prof P K Abdul Azis is likely to visit the University of Wisconsin next month to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU). He has already held a meeting with the officials of the foreign university here.

The duration and the eligibility for pursuing the entrepreneurship programmes will soon be finalised, officials at AMU said. The course will teach students in sensing opportunities, product and service innovation, and ability to take risks. The course will also assist students in mobilising resources and marketing their products or services.

The AMU will also sign a separate agreement with the University of Wisconsin through which the foreign university will receive 10 students from AMU for study purposes. “Basically, AMU students will now undertake short-term summer projects at the US university, the domains for which will soon be finalised,” said Dr Abrar. The selection of the ten students will be based solely on merit, he added.

The AMU has already signed agreements with education institutions in Australia and France to raise its academic standards.
