‘An institution is known by its teachers’

Chandigarh A university or an institution is not merely known by its buildings and infrastructure, but by its teachers and staff, said Haryana Governor Dr A R Kidwai, while presiding over a meeting of UGC XI Plan Expert Committee.

The Committee met the Governor at the Haryana Raj Bhawan, along with the vice-chancellor of BPS Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan, Dr Pankaj Mittal. Dr Kidwai said courses in media, banking, management and social sciences should be introduced in the university.

Dr Mittal apprised the Governor about the academic reforms such as introduction of credit system, semester system, revising the syllabus, during the first year of her tenure. She said various faculty positions have been filled to strengthen the existing departments. Rajan Gupta, Financial Commissioner and Secretary, Education, welcomed the Committee on behalf of the Haryana government.
