Faizabad A fast-track court has acquitted Mitrasen Yadav, parliamentarian from Faizabad and his legislator son Anandsen in a case of attempt to murder, attack and intimidation.

Mitrasen and Anandsen — along with associates Sai Charan, Ram Sewak and Bhagwant — were accused of trying to kill Om Prakash, a witness in a murder case.

The victim was Bhawani Pher, an associate of the Yadavs, who fell out with them. Pher was killed in 1995.

Both father and son are accused and the trial is on.

Om Prakash had alleged that he was attacked while on way to Faizabad court to record his statement. An FIR was lodged in July 1999 after the intervention of then Faizabad deputy inspector general. The judge, Sanjay Shankar Pandey, acquitted all the accused, giving them the benefit of doubt.

Mitrasen has been on out bail. Anandsen, also an accused in the Shashi murder case, is in jail. Both belong to the Bahujan Samaj Party. ENS
