According to Andheri police, Amit — who had worked as a security guard along with the missing guards, identified as Sikandar and Golu (last names unknown) — had gained the employment with Kudnanis after offering to help Charan Kundnani in his old age. He used to help Charan, who was in his eighties, in his walks besides giving massages to him.

Senior police inspector Pradeep Suryavanshi said, “Amit and the other security guards were employed by a security agency and they were often posted at various places in Andheri on a rotation basis. When Amit had been working at Nityanand Nagar Society, he made an acquaintance with the Kundnani couple and had gained their confidence. He was employed with the Kundnanis for the past 20-25 days without the knowledge of the security agency.”

He said Amit had, after allegedly killing the Kundnanis, gone to a building named Windsor in Teli Galli, where he picked up Sikandar. The two then went to another building at Sahar, from where they picked up Golu, and the three vanished ever since.

“We suspect that they have gone to Uttar Pradesh, from where they hail. However, the statements of the security guards posted at Nityanand Nagar on the day of the murder seem to suggest that Sikandar and Golu had not come to the society. Moreover, the guards claim to have seen Amit leaving the Kundnani flat but they do not remember him carrying any bag or any other thing,” he said.
