Annapurna Parivar organises women’s rally

Pune A Rally of women on the occassion of the 15th annual day of Annapurna Parivar was organised on police ground, Shivajinagar around 7000 women members from the slums of Pune attended the rally.Padmashri Prematai Purao presided over the rally. Noted activist Vidya Bal, Dr. Sanjaykumar Bhosale administrator Suvarna Sahakari Bank and Amre-Chief Manager Indian Overseas Bank were the guests of honour on this occasion.

Dr Mehta Purao Samant, MD of Annapurna Parivar presented the report of activites for 2008. Annapurna gave loans to 15000 women following the Grameen Bank of Bangladesh. Annapurna has also given health insurance to 40000 persons from slums, she said.

The “Best slum shield” were given to 8 slums at the hands of Dr Bhosale. He guided the rally on how to save and invest safely.

The annual report of Annapurna was published at the hands of Vidya Bal. She stated that killing female foetus in the womb will make the whole society imbalanced. She urged the rally to fight against this cruel trend.

Amre inaugurated the website of Annapurna. He congratulated Annapurna for using the credit line from Indian overseas Bank to empower the poor.Chitra Khinvasara presented the financial position of Annapurna. Swapna Bhatwadekar competed the event.

The children from the creches of Annapurna with Shaila Dixit sung the welcome song.Jidnyasa group presented a street play on the “ Sexual abuse” of children. Anjali Patil gave the voteof thanks.
