Annual athletic meet at Sat Paul Mittal School

Ludhiana, February 1 SAT Paul Mittal School held its third annual athletic meet here today. Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Chairman of the Governing Council of the school, was the chief guest.

Mittal unfurled the school flag and took the salute from the marching contingents of the four houses. Thereafter, he declared the third Annual Athletic Meet of the school open.

Athletes took an oath to play fair. The meet began with the synchronized Physical Training display with ribbons and the umbrella dance of Upvan, harmoniously blending fun and exercise.

The spectacular display of yogic, gymnastic and judo skills by the budding Satyans mesmerized the audience and left them spellbound. The impressive display of synchronization and harmony with elegant and exquisite exercises using rings, dumbbells and laziums was a treat for everyone’s eyes.

The races included a kangaroo race for PV, caterpillar race for Upvan, Over and Under race for Class-I, sack race (Class II-boys), lemon and spoon race (Class II-girls), three-legged race (Class III-boys) and skipping race for Class III girls.

There were also 100m, 200m, 400m and relay races for boys and girls in the Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 categories. All the athletes ran to the finishing line amidst loud cheering by their parents, teachers and friends.

The best athletes were declared in two categories, Under-13 and Under-15 boys and girls. Saiyam Kalia was declared the best athlete (Under 13 boys); Tanu Priya the best athlete (Under 13 girls); Ayush Gupta the best athlete (Under 15 boys) and Anna Kler the best athlete (Under 15 girls).

The parents also ran the brick race for fun. Thereafter, the parents and teachers pulled hard to win in the tug of war. The support staff too could not hold back and took to the track. The ladies ran a chatti race and the men participated in a slow-cycling race. The winners were awarded Nova bicycles, sponsored by Nova Avon Private Limited.

The closing ceremony was marked by bhangra. A memento was presented to the chief guest, Rakesh Bharti Mittal. Suneet Sidhu appreciated the children for their untiring efforts to put up an excellent show.
