Dattatray Bhatt, a teacher at Sanskar Bharti School at Rander, has alleged that Jagdish Italia, the school trustee, forced him to resign from his job after he beat up a Class IX student believed to be close to Italia.
School sources said that on February 7, Bhatt thrashed the student for making mischief and spreading nuisance in the class. Next day, Italia called Bhatt in his office and told him to resign for beating up the student.
When Bhatt refused to comply, Italia used his powers and asked the principal, Dharshan Naik to deny the victim any period. This continued for some days, after which, Bhatt, who by now had become mentally depressed, handed over a memorandum to District Collector Dilip Rawal and District Education Officer KR Zanjrukia, and demanded them to take action against the school trustee.
Sanskar Bharti School Principal Darshan Naik said, “Bhatt has been serving Sanskar Bharti School for the last 19 years. He is a strict teacher and we have received many complaints from students that he beats them up for no reason. We have even tried to persuade him to behave properly with the students but he continued with his demeanour. So, the trustees have decided to take strict steps against him.”
Earlier on Monday, Kiran Jadav, a teacher, committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in the Piplod area.
