Passengers of the New Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi Express (2011) could consider themselves lucky as their train was only 40 minutes behind schedule. In comparison, the Allahabad-Chandigarh Unchahar Express (4217) was running 10 hours late.
The Sadbhavana Express (2231), which runs from Lucknow to Chandigarh, arrived six hours late while the Paschim Express (2925) from Bandra to Chandigarh was two-and-a-half-hours late from its scheduled arrival of 3.47 pm.
There was no respite for air travellers as two flights — the Goa-bound MDLR Airlines and Delhi-bound Jet Airways — were cancelled. MDLR has announced the cancellation of this flight until the fog situation improves.
The Kingfisher Airlines’ Chandigarh-Delhi flight was delayed by nearly two and a half hours while its Chandigarh-Mumbai flight was almost five hours late. The Mumbai-bound Jet Airways flights were also delayed by over an hour. The MDLR flight for Delhi was late by five hours and the Indian Airlines Chandigarh-Delhi-Mumbai by nearly an hour.
Officials with the meteorological department have, meanwhile, predicted the conditions to prevail for a few more days.
