Vadodara, February 24 In yet another double murder incident in Anand district, a woman and her son were found dead, with grievous head wounds, in the early hours of Sunday in Joshikuan village of Anklav taluka.

The deceased were identified as Nanda Padiyar and her son Ashwin. Their ages could not be confirmed.

The bodies, lying in a field near their house, were spotted by a neighbour, who alerted the police. The wounds, the police said, were probably caused by some sharp instrument.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem and a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory has been called in. Sub-Inspector M D Puar, the Investigation Officer, said they were yet to determine the motive. “The incident took place around 4 am on Sunday. We are trying to find out if anything was missing from the house,” he said.

The police, he said, were recording statements from the residents of Joshikua to see if the Padiyars had any enemies. This is the second double murder in the district in less than a month. In January, two brothers were killed and their bodies dumped in the Narmada canal in Kapandavj.
